PROJECT CARNIVAL 2014 APEX-BRAZIL
Organized by Apex-Brazil, the project involves Brazilian companies and sector organizations to promote Brazilian products and carry out business with international buyers.
Cromex, leader in the Brazilian market of colour masterbatches, additives for plastics and the distribution of thermoplastic resins, will hold business meetings with foreign businessmen in its São Paulo factory during Carnival. The company is one of the 45 participants in the Project Carnival 2014, which is being held from February 24 to March 11 by the Brazilian Agency for Exports and Investment Promotion (Apex-Brazil).
The participating Brazilian companies are receiving more than 300 foreign guests, buyers and opinion leaders, participating in 159 business agendas, seminars and lectures. The program includes visits to factories and sales points, in order to get to know the products and Brazilian companies, strengthen business relationships and close deals.
Project Carnival is an initiative that capitalizes on the high visibility of the Brazilian Carnival to attract buyers, opinion leaders and foreign investors from various industries to Brazil. Specifically in the plastics segment, the action is coordinated by Think Plastic Brazil, a program to incentive exports of plastics processed in Brazil. Think Plastic Brazil is conducted in a partnership by Instituto Nacional do Plástico (INP) and Apex-Brazil.
According with Cromex's commercial director, Marcos Pinhel, this type of initiative allows the company to show the particularities of its products, the evolution in recent years, and its share in the Latin American market. "Cromex has state-of-the-art laboratories to develop customized solutions to clients and it is extremely interesting to show it to potential buyers," says Pinhel.
In addition to the business meetings, visitors will have the opportunity to know Cromex's headquarters in São Paulo, where coloured masterbatches and special products are manufactured, and where the lab is located. The laboratory recently received new state-of-the-art extruders, making possible an increase in productive capacity. Besides the production of masterbatches, visitors will also have the opportunity to see how Cromex operates in the distribution of thermoplastic resins in Brazil.
Cromex's guests for this event are Soulpack, from Uruguay and operating in the manufacture of flexible and rigid packaging; Polinoa, from Argentina, which produces flexible polyethylene packaging and other plastic materials with advanced technology for different application sectors; and PLX Caribbean, distributor of raw materials for the plastic industry in the Dominican Republic.
Cromex markets its products to over 60 countries. "Currently, 20% of the company's business are geared to foreign markets and the trend is to increase that number with important actions such as Project Carnival, for example," adds Mark Pinhel.
Cromex - In addition to the manufacturing unity in São Paulo, the company also has a modern plant in Simões Filho (BA), where the production of white and black masterbatches and additives is made. Together, the plants total production capacity is of 132 thousand tonnes/year, directly employing more than 600 people and generating hundreds of jobs indirectly.
Cromex has a broad portfolio of colours and additives, which meets 18 different segments in the transformed plastics sector, such as toys, packaging, construction, automotive industry, agribusiness and others. Additives give plastics non-slip , anti-static, anti-UV properties, etc.
